    Baba Ramdev outlines big plans for Patanjali in Tamil Nadu

    Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, the company founded by spiritual guru Baba Ramdev, seems to have struck a goldmine of sorts in Tamil Nadu, with record numbers in growth and major plans for pushing sales in the region.

    The company, founded in 2006, with an initial investment of Rs 70 crore, had registered a turnover of Rs 5,000 crore in the financial year 2015-16. This year, the company has projected that its target is likely to double to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore. Speaking about the company’s vision for Tamil Nadu, Baba Ramdev said, “In Tamil Nadu, Patanjali has registered 2,000% growth last year. We planning on increase our sales from Rs 20 crore to Rs 100 crore per month in Tamil Nadu alone.” 

    Patanjali Ayurved has a total employee strength of one lakh and approximately 1 crore farmers have also associated with Patanjali. Talking about the conglomerate’s plans for the future, Ramdev says, “The group has launched baby care products as well as dairy items such as milk, ice creams etc. The group is also planning for production facility in every state. The group will shortly enter the textile manufacturing segment and this will be a major category apart from FMCG products.” 

    Patanjali Ayurved is into the production of personal care, food and cosmetic products using Ayurvedic methods and natural produce. Its major FMCG products include Dantkanti toothpaste, Drishti eye drops, Madhunashini diabetes control tablets, cow milk and ghee to name a few. Elaborating on how the company is sticking to its motto of Swadeshi, Ramdev explains, “Patanjali aims to serve the nation in many ways – by providing millions of people direct or indirect employment.”
