Saidai Sadik booked for derogatory remarks on BJP women leaders

Sadik made the remarks at an event celebrating the achievements of DMK government, held at RK Nagar.

CHENNAI: The Cyber crime wing of Chennai City Police have booked a DMK functionary, Saidai Sadik for his derogatory remarks on woman actors who joined the BJP.

Sadik made the remarks at an event celebrating the achievements of DMK government, held at RK Nagar recently.

A video clip of his speech went viral in social media and was criticised widely. While actor Khushbu, who was among the persons at the receiving end of the abusive speech by Sadik, condemned the derragatory speech in her Twitter account, the Tamil Nadu BJP also wrote to the National Commission for Women (NCW), seeking an intervention, stating that this has taken Tamil Nadu politics to a new low. In their letter to NCW, TN BJP further contended that a DMK minister was on stage during the speech and no effort was made to stop Sadik from continuing his abusive speech.

Meanwhile, DMK MP, MK Kanimozhi took to Twitter and condemned the remarks made against women and said that the party doesn’t condone such views.

Based on a complaint by Nathiya Seenivasan, General Secretary, Women’s wing of TN BJP, Cyber Crime wing of chennai police booked Sadik under five sections including Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Women Harassment (TNPWH) Act.
