TN Assembly session to commence on October 17

Following the session, meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly will be convened in Speaker's chamber in Secretariat and the number of days of Assembly session will be decided.

CHENNAI: Speaker of Tamil Nadu Assembly M Appavu on Friday said that the state Assembly session will commence on October 17, Monday.

Addressing the media, in Secretariat, Appavu said that Assembly session will commence at 10 am on October 17 and on the first day condolence resolutions on former members of the state Assembly and famous personalities will be adopted.

Following that the condolence resolution for former Speaker Sedappatti Muthiah will be passed and the session will end immediately.

Following the session, meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly will be convened in Speaker's chamber in Secretariat and the number of days of Assembly session will be decided.

Speaker also said that supplementary Budget will be presented, by Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, and there will be debate on the supplementary Budget.

The State government had already announced that the reports of Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission, which inquired the police firing excess in Thoothukudi anti-Sterlite protest, and Justice Arumugasamy Commission, which inquired the death of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, will be tabled in the Assembly and sources said that they will be tabled on the final day.

When Speaker was asked whether the seating arrangement for AIADMK leaders Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam were finalised, Appavu evaded by saying that they will be done based on Assembly rules and not based on individual likings.
