SP Velumani's plea to quash graft cases to be heard today

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court will hear petitions of former minister SP Velumani, who is under the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) scanner for allegedly awarding tenders of Chennai and Coimbatore corporations.

A complaint on the same was filed in 2018, but was gathering dust till the change of government. Once the DMK unseated the AIADMK in 2021, two cases, one case each in Chennai and Coimbatore, were filed in 2021 and 2022.

PP Hasan Mohammed Jinnah pointed out that though the former CJ Munishwar Nath Bhandari on September 9 posted the matter for September 19 to decide on the petition filed by Velumani.
