Lenin, instrumental in getting protected agri zone tag for Delta, no more

TIRUCHY: A noted environmental activist KKR Lenin, who was also the founder president of Movement against Destruction, passed away at his residence at Pattukkottai due to a brief illness on Friday. KKR Lenin (66), was fighting against methane, hydrocarbon and genetically modified crops and organised a series of protests. Lenin was one of the key persons to force the state government to declare the Cauvery Delta as the Protected Agricultural Zone. He also offered training to youth on the traditional farming at his land by transferring it as a model farm. Lenin was suffering from a chronic disease and passed away at his house on Friday morning and the last rites were held on Friday evening. Local residents and social activists took part in large numbers during the funeral procession. Lenin was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters-in-laws and grandchildren.
