28-yr-old hacked to death by gang in Chengalpattu
A few days ago, a quarrel broke out between both the villagers after aiming torch light on faces the victim and his associates.
CHENNAI: A 28-year-old man was hacked to death by a group of men in Chengalpattu on Wednesday midnight.
The murder was a result of aiming torch light.
The deceased was Rajesh Kanna of Bharathipuram village in Chengalpattu. Police said on Wednesday night that Rajesh Kanna along with his friends Karthick and Mohan Raj was standing near the Lord Vinayagar idol to provide security for the idol. At midnight, a group of men, who came in a car, attacked Rajesh Kanna with knives and sickles.
Karthick and Mohan Raj, who tried to rescue their friend also suffered, cut injuries. Police said the gang chased Rajesh Kanna and hacked him to death and escaped from the spot.
After the incident, the Chengalpattu Thaluk police who visited the spot retrieved the body, sent it for post-mortem examination and also admitted Karthick and Mohan Raj to a hospital.
The police who registered a case on Thursday morning arrested Nagaraj (41), Parthiban (27), Rajesh (22), Ajith (25), Jeeva (20), Ramesh (26) and Lokesh (21) of Malayali Nattam village in Chengalpattu. During the inquiry, they found that villagers from Bharathipuram village would go to Malaiyali Nattam village to consume liquor.

On Wednesday night, in a heated phone conversation, Rajesh Kanna challenged the Nagaraj gang to come near the Ganesh idol in their area. Soon, the gang arrived at the spot with weapons hacked him to death. The police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
