Kallakurichi case: 5 school staff released on bail

School staff being released on Wednesday

CHENNAI: Five school staff, who were arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a Class 12 girl in Kallakurichi were ordered conditional bail and released on Wednesday morning, reports Daily Thanthi.

The Madras High Court bench led by Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan had ordered bail on 26th to the two teachers, secretary Shanti, correspondent Ravikumar and principal Sivasankaran against a bail bond of Rs 10,000. The court arrived at the verdict as there was no substantial evidence leading to the "rape and murder" theory.

The accused were arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a Class 12 girl in the school hostel premise on July 13 and subsequent protests demanding justice for her death turned into massive violence on July 17.

The deceased girl, of a private higher secondary school in Chinna Salem, in Kallakurichi ended her life on July 13. She left behind a note in which she claimed that two instructors had mistreated her.

Police had arrested 5 staff members, the Principal, Correspondent and Secretary along with Maths and Chemistry teachers.

In addition to this, the secretary, principal and correspondent were asked to sign at Madurai and the two teachers at Salem.
