Tiruchy AIADMK opposes selection of site for IBT

The petition also said that the lands in Guntoor, Chettiyapatti, Kallikudi and Poongudi have been dug for filling the land at the ongoing IBT works. Since it was already stagnated with sewage water for years, the land would lose its stability and so it will not be feasible to construct the bus stand, the petition said.

TIRUCHY: Alleging that the soil test for the present site for Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) failed, the Tiruchy AIADMK submitted a petition with the district collector on Saturday to shift the location.

According to the petition by AIADMK South Tiruchy District Secretary P Kumar, the site at Panchapur for IBT is owned by City Corporation and the land was used as the sewage treatment plant for the corporation for a few decades. “Though the soil test results for the site came negative for establishing a bus stand, the works continue and this should be stopped at once”, the petition read.

The Tiruchy AIADMK claimed that they are not against the bus stand which is a long pending demand of the people but concerned about the site selection and so they appealed to the district collector to have a technical study and decide based on the results.
