All higher education institutions to get ERP software: Ponmudy

Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy said Learning Management System integrated with an Enterprise Resource Planning Software (LMS and ERP) will be established in all Higher Educational Institutions in order to formulate policies, laws, regulations and provide various programmes based on the needs of the society and for achieving the goals of the government in the field of Higher Education.

“In this regard, the government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 4.09 crore in the year 2021-22 towards engaging project management consultants as resource cost for the implementation of the project and design.

With regard to polytechnic colleges, the Minister said the government has introduced a diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in Tamil Medium in Central Polytechnic College, Chennai and Government Polytechnic Colleges at Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchy and Nagercoil from the year 2022-23.

“Thereby, the students will be able to clearly understand the concepts and applications better in Tamil,” he said adding “also this would help the students to avail the benefits of reservation under Persons Studying in Tamil Medium (PSTM) category for state government jobs.”

Women-friendly diploma courses

Ponmudy also said women-friendly diploma courses will be introduced from the academic year 2022-23 in the colleges with a view to increase women enrolment in polytechnic colleges and also motivate them to take up higher studies for better employment opportunities.
