35 students of Madurai AIIMS attend classes at Ramnad temporary campus

Thirty-five students arrived for the first day of their classes on the fifth floor of the Medical College, sources said.

MADURAI: The first phase of MBBS classes at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Madurai, commenced in a temporary campus at Ramanathapuram Government Medical College on Monday.

Thirty-five students arrived for the first day of their classes on the fifth floor of the Medical College, sources said.

M Hanumantha Rao, Executive Director, AIIMS, Thoppur, inspected the arrangements and said Thoppur in Madurai district would have the much awaited permanent building for the AIIMS Hospital in two years.

Once the building comes up, the students would be relocated from the temporary campus. Of the sanctioned enrollment of 50 students, 35 students attended classes on the first day. Eight staff members and six more from Mangalagiri, AP are handling classes.
