As vacancies of retired employees were not filled, the mill hired former hands on a daily wage basis during operations.” In addition to the fuel outlet, the mill has also started a farmers information centre at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh. “This centre would provide cane farmers all sugar cane cultivation related information free of cost. As the latest technicalinnovations to increase cane yields would take time to reach farmers normally, they would be able to get the same from the newly created centre,” Anandan added.
