Though defeated, will work for state, says Tamilisai

It was a different day out for Tamilisai as she spent her time with party cadre celebrating her 58th birthday in Thoothukudi. Tamilisai was accorded a warm welcome on her arrival at Thoothukudi airport by jubilant party workers. Amid the cadre, she cut her birthday cake on the premises of airport itself.

Talking to reporters she indicated the alleged involvement of DMK MP Kanimozhi, who recently won from Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituency, in the 2G Spectrum case.

Tamilisai, who contested from Thoothukudi on BJP ticket got defeated by DMK’s Kanimozhi. “Despite being defeated, I will work for people of Tamil Nadu to cater to their needs,” she said. The BJP is making a progressive step forward, she added.

Referring to Kanimozhi, Thoothukudi MP, who recently submitted a petition to Thoothukudi Collector Sandeep Nanduri demanding closure of a much disputed Tasmac liquor shop in Kovilpatti, Tamilisai said at first, the DMK should wind up its breweries functioning with profit motive. “It was the DMK, which brought Sterlite and Methane project in Tamil Nadu, bit now the same party is opposing these projects and shifting the blame on the BJP,” she said.

On the three-language system in the education policy, which recently triggered a controversy, Tamilisai said the Centre would not implement it hastily, but the Opposition had been criticising the Centre that it was trying to impose Hindi language in education.

Taking a dig at the DMK, she said MPs’ and MLAs, who won from various constituencies in TamilNadu, would be able to do nothing for the welfare of people. “Atthe most they would stage walk outs from Parliament and the state Assembly,” she noted.
