Plea to implement RTE reservation in CBSE schools

Office-bearers of TNSPWA, headed by its president S Arumainadhan, submitted a petition to Pradeep Yadav, Secretary of School Education Department, demanding the state government to implement RTE in CBSE schools and to fix the fees for CBSE schools.

After submitting the petition, Arumainadhan said, “According to the RTE, 25 percentage of seats in private schools should be given to weaker sections of the society, but information on 25 percentage allocation is not found in the websites of CBSE schools. So, state government should ensure that 25 percentage of seats in CBSE schools should be allotted to students who are residing nearby.”

He also said that when the state government tried to fix the fees for private schools, the schools went for appeal in Supreme Court and a committee was formed to fix the fees. But, even then the private schools are collecting fees multiple times than the fixed fees but there is no control on the fee structure in CBSE schools.

“The government should have a control over the fees collected in private CBSE schools functioning across the state,” said Arumainadhan.

He also demanded the government to give books for free to students even in private schools and to check donations in private schools.
