The man’s wife has approached the District Collector and appealed him to initiate action against the caste Hindus.

According to Kala (35), wife of the victim Arumugam (38), the couple had planned a family function on July 2 and an invitation printed in this regard mentioned Yethanadu as their village.

However, five days after the function, P Srinivasan (30), a caste Hindu, reportedly confronted Arumugam at a petty shop and asked him why he had failed to mention ‘Dalit colony’ of Yethanadu in the invitations.

Srinivasan then reportedly told Arumugam to prostate before other caste Hindus for his mistake. This led to a dispute between the two.

Meanwhile, on July 13, Srinivasan along with three others went to Arumugam’s house. Following a verbal altercation which soon escalated, they started assaulting him.

Srinivasan took a sickle that he had concealed and attacked Arumugam. The injured man who suffered severe cut injuries was rushed to a Government Hospital.

On Monday, Kala approached the District Collector and sought action against the four caste Hindus.
