According to the organisers, over 1,200 goats are sacrificed in the month of Maasi by devotees from various communities to get the blessings of the Goddess during the festival celebrated for four days. Priest, J Sivakumar, accepted the ‘offering’ (sacrificial lambs) by tasting the blood of the goats.
