CHENNAI: Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday announced that he will be contesting from Theni Lok Sabha constituency in the BJP-led NDA for the April 19 Parliamentary elections.

According to the announcement made by the party general secretary, TTV Dhinakaran, he himself will be contesting from Theni, a stronghold of Thevar community, while P Senthilnathan will be fielded from Tiruchirappalli LS constituency in the BJP-led NDA.

AMMK, an ally of BJP will be contesting in its own Pressure Cooker symbol in both the constituencies.

Addressing reporters, TTV Dhinakaran said, "When I was a MP of Periyakulam (now Theni) LS constituency, I got the name 'Makkal Selvan'. I have worked for the people here and they know me well. Former CM O Panneerselvam and his son, who is a Theni MP now, OP Ravindranath Kumar and the people of Theni requested me to contest from Theni in this election. OPS, my friend eventually decided to set aside the seat for me and contest Ramanathapuram instead. We both will definitely win."
