GOING VIRAL: 106-year-old fulfils dream, dances with Obamas

The video of a free-spirited 106-year-old dancing with the American President and the first lady is perhaps the cutest video that’s gone viral on social media in recent times

Virginia McLaurin, 106, fulfilled her dream of going to the White House and meeting President Barack Obama and first lady Obama Michelle in honour of Black History month. 

McLaurin said she waited all her life to see an African-American in the White House. So, when she finally got a chance to meet Obama, the old woman couldn’t contain her excitement. She squealed with delight and danced with some great moves, that have made her the newest Internet darling. 

In 2014, McLaurin began a social media campaign to meet the Obamas. She filmed a YouTube video in which she explained, “I didn’t think I’d ever live to see a coloured president. I am so happy. I pray for you every day of my life.” The YouTube video was accompanied by a White House petition and a Facebook page.
