A striking picture of India claiming to be taken by NASA on the night of Diwali is going viral on social media. The picture showing India glittering with lights is uploaded in the year 2011 in Facebook with the caption India at night during Diwali NASA. Around 88,000 people have shared the picture, believing it to be genuine and true to its caption.

On checking the facts, it was revealed that the picture was made on behalf of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the year 2003. It was made using pictures taken by various satellite for the purpose of population survey.
