A picture with the World Health Organisation (WHO) logo advised the people to avoid bakery items as it cannot be washed before consumption and can get infected with coronavirus is going viral on social media.

The picture says 'Stop eating bakery items! It is strictly advised to not to eat bakery items as it is not washable and can get infected to the virus easily.'

On checking the facts, it was found that WHO had not issued any such statement. According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), as the virus cannot survive for long hours on surface, it is less likely to be transferred through foods or packed goods.
