A picture showing the Chinese President Xi Jinping visiting a mosque is widely circulating on social media.

The death toll due to coronavirus has risen to 636 and 31,161 are affected, according to the reports. Consequently, a screen grab of a video shot during President Xi Jinping’s visit to a mosque is going viral claiming that the President is worshipping for the protection of the people against coronavirus epidemic.

On investigation, it was found that the video was shot in 2016 when the Chinese President was on a fact-finding tour to Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in Northwest China.

The viral picture is obsolete and has no connection to the current coronavirus outbreak.
