A viral message claims Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been appointed the chairman of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The tweet attracted 6,500 likes and close to 2,000 retweets. The claim is a hoax because the UN body does not have a Chairman’s post. The topmost position is that of Director-General, held by Dr TA Ghebreyesus. Only its Executive Board has a Chairman, a position held by Indian Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
