A message that a regiment of the Indian Army, comprising minorities had refused to fight in India’s 1965 war with Pakistan, has gone viral. Several users have been using the message to question the ‘loyalty’ of such candidates to be appointed to the posts of IAS and IPS officers. Alt News reached out to sources in the military and was informed that there was never a Muslim regiment in the Army. The Army is an apolitical, secular institution, it was told.
