The deceased has been identified as P Manivannan of Kollapatti village in Vadamadurai block.

According to sources, Perumal and his younger brother Thirupathi had an argument over sharing of family property. In the midst of the quarrel, Thirupathi (56) along with his son Muneeswaran (18), assaulted Perumal. However, Manivannan, who attempted to protect his father, Perumal, was stabbed and later died on the way to the hospital. An injured Perumal was admitted to the Dindigul Government Hospital and is said to be out of danger. Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident, namely Thirupathi, his wife Pugalendhi (45), their sons Muneeswaran (18) and Savadamuthu (25). The Vadamadurai police have filed a case under Sections 307 and 302 of the IPC, sources said.
