According to police, S Gokul and his friend B Hari Hara Sethupathi, both studying in Class 11 in a private school and hailing from Kumaran Colony had gone to bath in a stone quarry.

They were accompanied by Sujith, 14 studying in the same school, but he stood out, while two other boys ventured into the water. “Both went inside the water and drowned in the 30 feet water stagnating pit in the quarry. A shocked Sujith raised an alarm, and immediately the local people rushed to the spot and informed fire and rescue personnel,” police said.

The fire tenders fished out the bodies of the two boys after a search for more than an hour. The Anupparpalayam police have registered a case and further inquiries are on.
