TN, Puducherry get new Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax

Senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Rajiv Jain has taken charge as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Tuesday, a release stated.

Rajiv Jain has taken over from N Sankaran, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on promotion. Jain belongs to the 1984 batch of IRS officers and has worked various capacities and in various offices of the Income Tax Department, at Delhi, Allahabad, Meerut, Muzaffar Nagar and Lucknow, according to a release. With Tamil Nadu being the fourth largest contributor to the country’s direct tax revenues, Rajiv Jain will be in-charge of the region whose net collection recorded during financial year 2017-18 is Rs 68,700 crore, which works out to 6.85 per cent of all India collections.
