TN govt allows holding Gram Sabha meet on Gandhi Jayanti

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has given its nod to hold Gram Sabha meetings on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) in all the village panchayats. The government has ordered that the meeting should be held on October 2 at 11 am.

The panchayat has been ordered to hold meetings in the wards within the boundaries following the rotation system. It has been advised to discuss in the meeting controlling the spread of dengue and monsoon preparedness. The District Collector and Rural Development Commissioner have been instructed to send the report to the Gram Sabha meeting by October 12.

Also, the Department of School Education has already directed that all Headmasters, School Management Committee Chairman, and members of the schools should participate in the Gram Sabha meeting which is going to be held October 2.

It also states that resolutions passed in the school management committee meeting regarding the development of schools, learning-teaching, etc. should be presented in the village council meeting, and discussions regarding dropout, student admission, school infrastructure, and student safety should also be discussed.
