TN edu dept orders appointment of elementary officers in every dist

The vacuum created at the district level due to non-availability of an exclusive district level officer for elementary education has resulted in ineffective monitoring of the foundational teaching learning process, he added.

CHENNAI: The School Education Department has ordered the appointment of a specific elementary education officer in each revenue district. The post was removed by the department and the responsibilities concerned with the post were transferred to district educational officers and chief education officers in 2018.

"After the current revision of the education department, there will be 58 district elementary education officers. While there will be one DEEO for 18 revenue districts and two DEEOs for the rest of the 20 districts which have more than 1,000 schools, " said a senior official in the department.
