TN donates Rs 10 cr for Odisha relief

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday announced Rs 10 crore as relief for Odisha, which was ravaged by Cyclone Fani.

In a statement, Palaniswami said, “On behalf of the state government and the people of Tamil Nadu, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family members of all those who have lost their lives in the cyclone and rain.”


He also said that Odisha is faced with the arduous task of ensuring immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures of the cyclone ravaged areas and reconstruction of the devastated areas in thecoming days.


“The severe cyclonic storm Fani has caused unprecedented and extensive damages in certain districts of Odisha, especially in the holy town of Puri,” he said.


He also said that as a token of support and solidarity of the government and people of Tamil Nadu with the government and people of Odisha in their hour of need, “I have ordered immediate contribution of a sum of Rs 10 crore from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to the government of Odisha.”
