TN declares Nov 13, day after Deepavali, a holiday

The government has announced that November 18 would be a working day to compensate for the holiday

CHENNAI: The state government on Monday announced November 13, (day after Deepavali) as government holiday. The announcement comes in the wake of requests from the government officials and teachers seeking holiday on Monday.

A release issued by the state government on Monday evening said that the government has ordered holiday for a day on Monday (November 13) alone considering the welfare of students, their parents, teachers and government employees/officers who would be returning from their natives after celebrating Deepavali (November 12).

Orders have been issued to declare holiday for all government offices, public sector undertakings, schools and colleges on November 13.

The government has announced that November 18 would be a working day to compensate for the holiday, the release added.
