Six persons including, three Amma Canteen employees and a healthcare worker have been tested positive for coronavirus in Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district.

Following this, Amma Canteen in Kovilpatti was sanitized completely and is now temporarily closed.

Steps are being taken to temporarily shift Amma Canteen to the premises of Kovilpatti Corporation office.

Thoothukudi recorded 269 new Covid infections on Wednesday. Districts other than Chennai are seeing a steady increase in Covid cases in the past one week. Tamil Nadu registered 4,965 fresh cases on Wednesday. The total number has crossed 1.8 lakh now.
