Thoothukudi: Cops issue reflective stickers for pilgrims

The initiative, to alert vehicle drivers about the movement of devotees on the roadside, was carried out by the Thoothukudi district police, who advised pilgrims to follow road safety norms while walking along the highway.

THOOTHUKUDI: Police distributed reflective stickers and issued safety advisories to devotees undertaking a foot pilgrimage (pada yatra) to Irukkankudi Mariamman Temple and Tiruchendur Murugan Temple along the Thoothukudi–Madurai NH near Ottapidaram.

The initiative, to alert vehicle drivers about the movement of devotees on the roadside, was carried out by the Thoothukudi district police, who advised pilgrims to follow road safety norms while walking along the highway.

According to police, more than 1,000 devotees walk daily on the NH to reach Irukkankudi and Tiruchendur, especially during the Tamil months of Aadi and Thai. Accidents have been reported frequently when pilgrims walk along the roadside.
