CHENNAI: As a stopgap measure to fill in positions that went vacant as teachers were deputed to the Illam Thedi Kalvi scheme, the School Education Department has made the announcement to recruit teachers temporarily.

In its announcement, the department has directed respective Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) of districts to overlook recruitment of teachers.

In addition to this, salaries would be three slabs for the temporary teachers; Rs 7,500, Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000.

182 teaching positions have fell vacant as the teachers were deputed to framing the academic plan for the educational outreach scheme.
