The weather office has forecast widespread rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The latest forecast said heavy showers may batter Chennai over the next two days.

It also said coastal areas might experience heavy rainfall with strong winds and warned fishermen to suspend fishing till the next forecast.

At least five districts in Tamil Nadu received abundant rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the weather office.
