These doctors and nurses were supposed to retire today.

This comes after the state government's earlier decision to double the salary of those who work with COVID-19 infected patients.

Tamil Nadu has so far recorded 74 coronavirus positive cases, as per state Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar.

According to the Health and Family Welfare, the total confirmed cases in the country rose to 1,251, with 32 deaths.
