Tamil leader Padayatchiyar honored with memorial

Tamil politician Ramasami Padayatchiyar was honored with a memorial in Cuddalore on Monday. 

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy unveiled a bronze statue and a library in memory of the late leader. Dy CM O Paneerselvam also attended the event. 

The memorial sits on a 1.70 acre area and built at a cost of 2.15 crore rupees, according to reports. 

The CM said Ramasami Padayatchiyar embraced values such as self respect and approached people's issues with a humanitarian mindset. 

He said Padayatchiyar defended the weak and stood by the oppressed people.
