Tahsildar falls victim to swine flu in The Nilgiris

The swine flu claimed the life of Gudalur tahsildar in The Nilgiris on Monday.

Abdul Rahman (47) was diagnosed with the disease at a private hospital a few days ago and was shifted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for treatment on Sunday night.

“He fell ill on September 27. As his health deteriorated despite treatment at a private hospital, he was moved to the CMCH. However he died without responding to treatment on Monday evening,” said hospital sources.

Abdul Rahman, a native of Mettupalayam, is survived by his wife and a son and daughter.

This is the second death in the last few days. Earlier, Jamaluddin, 42, succumbed without responding to the treatment at a private hospital in Erode district on Saturday night. Police said Jamaluddin, a daily wager from Vaniyambadi, developed a respiratory problem recently.
