Stolen cars sold to timber smugglers

Tiruchy police nabbed a person, who was involved in a series of car theft cases and selling the stolen vehicles to a group of red sander smugglers. The police also seized six cars from the arrested person.

According to police, the accused A Suresh (42), native of Keezhapanjapatti near Kulithalai, was wanted by the police from five districts in connection with  several cases, including robbery. Meanwhile, the Tiruchy police, arrested him on Wednesday and recovered six cars, besides 30 sovereigns, from him.

Suresh, who had stolen cars from various places, was caught in connection with a robbery case. During inquiries, he admitted his involvement in many car theft and robbery cases. Suresh told the investigators that he had stolen as many as seven cars and sold them to red sander smugglers. Further investigations are on to detect his involvement in other cases in delta districts. A probe is also on to identify the red sanders smugglers who bought the car from Suresh.
