The members arrived in large numbers to Collectorate on Friday.  Sensing trouble the main entrance was closed. However, the people tried to barge in. This resulted in commotion for a few minutes. The gate was later opened and the co-ordinator K Kaliappan submitted a petition to the Collector G Govindaraj. The farmers said, “When sand quarry is opened, it would affect our livelihood. Cauvery, which is our lifeline had already been exploited beyond repair.”
