Stalin govt’s first Budget on Aug 13

The first Budget of the newly elected government will be presented on August 13, State Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan said on Wednesday.

Srinivasan, who released the announcement on behalf of Governor Banwarilal Purohit said that the Assembly will meet at the multipurpose hall on the third floor of Kalaivanar Arangam at 10 am on August 13. 

The decision to present the State Budget on August 13 was taken in the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday morning, chaired by Chief Minister MK Stalin and other Ministers. Sources in the Secretariat said that the agriculture budget will likely be presented on Monday following which there will be debates on both the budgets for three or four days. However, an official announcement will be given after the business advisory meeting to be held after the Budget is presented. 

White paper on finance to be presented on Aug 9 

As announced by State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan, the government will present the White Paper on August 9. The paper will have details of the complete financial conditions, revenue and expenditure details of the departments and the public sector units of the government.“The 120-page document is likely to be political. It will have details of the misgovernance of the previous government headed by AIADMK. There is an unaccounted deficit of Rs 800 crore in the finance and the gap will be explained,” said sources.
