Soon a good news on Cauvery Delta as PSAZ: TN CM

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Wednesday said the government will soon come out with a good news regarding declaration of Cauvery delta region as Protected Special Agriculture Zone (PSAZ).

Speaking in the Assembly, Palaniswami said the announcement about declaring the Cauvery delta region as PSAZ was made by him while laying the foundation stone for the Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences (AIIRLIVAS) in Salem district recently.

According to him, discussions have been held with legal experts on the subject and good news that would make the farmers happy will soon come out.

Palaniswami said there are legal issues that have to be sorted out while declaring the Cauvery delta region as PSAZ.

After discussing with the legal experts, an official announcement would be made in the Assembly, Palaniswami said.

The Leader of Opposition and DMK President M.K. Stalin said the announcement of PSAZ will be good only when the hydrocarbon exploration projects are cancelled.

Stalin said the announcement should be brought as a law or a resolution in the Assembly and his party would extend full support.
