He was addressing the inaugural of “Design the Thinking” workshop for government department officials attached to the state industry departments on Tuesday.

Plastic ban will be made mandatory and all the water bodies will be cleared off debris. All industry parks will get avenue plantation to enhance green cover. The idea is to improve the industry parks to have an aesthetic lush green look, so that the industrial hubs do not remain an eyesore for foreign investors, according to Kumaragurubaran.

Industries Minister MC Sampath, who inaugurated the workshop, urged the officials of SIPCOT, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) and state guidance bureau to ensure that Tamil Nadu continues to be a role model state for industrialisation in the country.

“There is a need for more investments and job opportunities. TN being a law-abiding state with abundant human resource has the potential to tap more investments and bureaucrats play a major role in attracting investments,” the Minister said.

He added that AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa has unveiled and revised industrial policies again and again and because of the measures taken by the Dravidian parties in the past, TN is a now a leader in automobiles, auto spares, heavy industries with manufacturing units. “There is a need for periodic upgradations in industrial policies and the officialsshould gear up with the growing corporate market,” the Minister added.

State industries secretary N Muruganandam urged the officials to follow in the footsteps of Singapore and Japan, wherethe human resource is tapped to the optimum.

“TN is a pioneer when compared with the other states in attracting investments. Invest India, the marketing department of the Centre has taken key strategies from Tamil Nadu and today states like Andhra, Telangana and Haryana has started giving tough competition to Tamil Nadu. The state can’t be complacent and other states have now woken up. In order to ensure confidence in the minds of industry leaders, the bureaucrats should ensure better facilitation for investors,” he said.

The top official also urged the participants to hone their skills to bridge the gap between the bureaucracy and theindustry.
