VCK Principal Secretary Devapozhilan in a statement pointed out that in 2016, the UPSC recruited candidates for the 146 vacant college professor posts and a list of 102 selected candidates was released. All qualified candidates from Puducherry were ignored, he said, adding that when the Tamil Nadu Public Service commission recruit candidates for the State service, 90 percent would be from that state.

Hence, the Cabinet should reaffirm the decision taken in 1996 that the candidates who understand local language would only be selected from Puducherry. Similarly, a resolution to set up a separate PSC for Puducherry should be adopted in the ensuing budget session of the territorial assembly, Devapozhilan said.
