Sengottaiyan has even threatened legal action against those who tried to spread such baseless rumours. “I have been a loyal worker of the party then, now and will remain so forever. Certain people are trying to spread false propaganda against me. They will be dealt with legally,” Sengottaiyan said in a press release. The senior MLA’s statement comes in wake of a general resentment among party cadre in the western region of the state who felt that their leaders were side-lined by Sasikala who belongs to Mukulathor community following J Jayalalithaa’s demise. With the Chief Minister’s post going to OP Panneerselvam, also from the Mukulathor community, the Kongu leaders, mostly Gounders, are keen on grabbing the party general secretary’s post.
