Sathankulam custodial deaths: Human Rights Commission issues summons to Kovilpatti prison guards

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has issued notice to prison guards of Kovilpatti sub-jail and asked them to be present in person, in relation to the case of alleged custodial deaths of father-son duo in Sathankulam last month.

The SHRC team has already launched a probe into the case. They had lead investigations into violation of human rights and misuse of police powers. Leading in the right direction, the Human Rights Commission has now summoned Kovilpatti prison guards. 

The Commission will look to interrogate the three guards who took Jayaraj and Bennix from jail to the hospital for the treatment.
