Rs 44 crore worth seized gold biscuits handed over to treasure office

The gold biscuits that were confiscated during raid in Coimbatore was handed over to the treasury office.

The electoral commission's flying squad were conducting regular vehicle check in Puliya kulam, Coimbatore on April 5, when they intercepted a van carrying gold biscuits.

It was reported that a van that carried gold biscuits worth Rs. 44 crore without proper documents was confiscated and the driver was arrested. It was also informed to the jewellery shop owners, who had gathered outside the District Collectorate that the confiscated gold biscuits would be returned to the claimant after submission of proper documents.

Meanwhile, since no shop owner turned up for claiming, the biscuits were sent to the Coimbatore treasury, sources added.
