The Assembly bypolls will be conducted simultaneously with the Lok Sabha election on April 18.

With the AIADMK fighting to establish its majority on the floor and the DMK determined to give the ruling party a tough fight, the by-election has grabbed the attention of entire state. As per the survey, the contest between the DMK alliance and the AIADMK combine is too close to call in several of the segments. The TTV Dhinakaran-led AMMK has significant support in Manamadurai, Andipatti, Vilathikulam and Periyakulam.
