Once the codes are scanned, it would connect to the related website with information. “We plan to cover all religious and tourist sites with such codes shortly,” he said. While 10 sites have been covered till date, Kandasamy revealed that most religious and tourist sites in the district numbering nearly 20 would be covered within a month.

When asked about the response from the public, he said, “We are continuing to get positive responses from the local and even the foreign tourists many of whom found the coded signboards a big help in getting to know the information they sought about the places.”

In fact, Jeroen Jansen, a tourist from Holland said, “I saw the coded sign board and when I used my mobile phone to scan it, I was able to access the website and get all related information regarding the sightseeing places in Tiruvannamalai district.”

The district officials said, “Coded signs boards will help the devotees learn about other religious locations which they can visit and will thus make their visit to this town fruitful.”
