PR Pandian files petition in SC seeking ban on hydrocarbon scheme

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change issued the notification and it was expected that political parties and environmental activists would start fresh rounds of protests.

Tamizhaga Cauvery Vivasayigal Sangam general secretary PR Pandian a filed petition in Supreme Court seeking a ban on hydrocarbon scheme.

This comes after the centres recent announcement stating that it is not necessary for oil and gas companies to seek clearance for drilling in Cauvery Delta regions. The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change issued the notification and it was expected that political parties and environmental activists would start fresh rounds of protests.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Police have dismissed DMK's request to stage a protest against the hydrocarbon scheme in Tanjore.
