As many as 9,73,410 voters, including 4,59,504 men, 5,13,810 women and 96 transpersons, will decide the fate of 18 candidates in the fray for Puducherry LS constituency on April 18.

Though 18 candidates are contesting the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency, there will be a straight fight between the Congress (V Vaithilingam) and AINRC (Dr Narayanasamy) candidates. The candidates of other parties like AMMK and MNM are also in the fray.

With just a couple of days left for the LS poll and Thattaanchavady assembly by-election, the electioneering in the UT reached its peak on Monday. Candidates and their party leaders travelled nook and cranny of the town and rural pockets in open vans. However, the scorching heat forced them to suspend their canvassing for a few hours from noon only to resume in the evening. But autos with loud speakers were on the rounds throughout the day.
