Overspeeding lorry rams into six cars on Thoppur national highway; 10 injured

In a multiple collision, a rashly driven lorry rammed into six cars on Salem-Bengaluru National Highways resulting in traffic disruption for over one hour in Thoppur on Thursday.

Coimbatore: As many as 10 persons, including five women and a child, were injured in the mishap. At 8.30 am, the lorry rammed into a car moving in front. In the impact, the car ran over the median to reach the other side of the highway.

The lorry didn’t stop even, it then hit at least five other cars. Police said the lorry driver fled from the spot after causing the mishap. On receiving information, Thoppur police rushed to the spot and sent the injured persons to Dharmapuri and Thoppur Government Hospitals.

Traffic was disrupted on the national highways for more than an hour due to the multiple mishaps.
